Creating your own vibrational scale

We are living in a time when we are blessed with an abundance of tools that allow us to live a life that is unfolding beautifully.

Each of us are unique. We are all creating and manifesting in ways that are specific to our particular perceptions and vibrational resonances.

I have taken the Emotional Guidance Scale from Abraham along with the Hawkins Map of Consciousness and, using muscle testing, created what I am dubbing “The Frank Butterfield Scale of Vibrational Resonance.”

By the way, I wrote about how such a scale could be used in my post on January 13: Using the Hawkins Scale and EFT to intentionally raise vibration. For a refresher, take a look and then hurry back so you can see how I created my own personal scale (and how you can too!).

Characteristics of this scale

  • It is personal to me. It might work for other people, but I’ve only tested it for me. More about this below.
  • The scale is progressive (like the EGS) and not logarithmic (like Hawkins’)
  • It starts at zero and ends at 1000. Zero is the most contracted vibrational resonance state. 1000 is the most expanded vibrational resonance state.

The scale

Quality Score
Love 1000
Freedom 1000
Joy 1000
Peace 1000
Empowerment 995
Appreciation 980
Knowledge 965
Eagerness 875
Happiness 875
Optimism 800
Enthusiasm 690
Positive Expectation 685
Acceptance 665
Hopefulness 575
Courage 555
Contentment 540
Overwhelm 500
Blame 350
Revenge 285
Insecurity 270
Irritation 255
Rage 250
Grief 250
Anger 210
Disappointment 185
Worry 180
Impatience 155
Jealousy 155
Fear 145
Boredom 140
Discouragement 95
Pessimism 95
Unworthiness 90
Doubt 90
Guilt 90
Hatred 80
Despair 75
Apathy 45
Depression 45
Panic 35
Powerlessness 5

How I created it

  1. I took all the words I found in the EGS and the Hawkins scale and sorted them alphabetically, creating a source list (see below).
  2. I reviewed the list to see if anything was missing (there was one word I use — panic — which I added).
  3. Then I went through each word on the list and muscle tested for the following statement, inserting the word where the blank is:

On the Frank Butterfield scale of vibrational resonance, _____________ is used.

  4. I removed all the words from the list that tested weak (negative) to the statement above.
  5. Next, I went through the remaining words and muscle tested for the following statement, inserting the word where the first blank is and then testing for the number (see more here about how to muscle test from a range of numbers):

On the Frank Butterfield scale of vibrational resonance of zero to 1000, ___________ scores at _____________.

  6. Throughout this process, I tried to just focus on each step without giving much thought to the big picture of where everything goes on the scale. So, when I sorted the list by number descending (using a spreadsheet helped a great deal), I was happy to see the results. The scores and order may not resonate with you, but each of these make sense, which I talk about in more detail below.

A few notes about the results

There were a few things that immediately jumped out at me when I created this list:

  1. Some qualities test at the same score. Remember that I tested the list in alphabetical order, so I didn’t realize this until the process was done. But none of them come as a surprise to me. Here is a list of those qualities and their scores with some notes:
    • 45: Apathy, Depression — No surprise here. I’ve never been able to distinguish these two.
    • 250: Rage, Grief — This did surprise me a bit. Then I started thinking about how when I am grieving, it is every bit as physical an experience as rage.
    • 155: Jealousy, Impatience — Like two snakes interwined with each other, these qualities seem to feed off each other for me.
    • 875: Eagerness, Happiness — I had to laugh when I saw this. Anyone who has ever been around me when I am happy won’t be a bit surprised.
    • 1000: Peace, Joy, Freedom, Love — I want to say, “well obviously,” but the fact that Freedom vibrates at the same level as Peace, Joy, and Love is an awareness that only recently became obvious.
  2. Appreciation is not at the top. Abraham and the Communion of Light tell us again and again that Appreciation is the best word they know to describe how Source sees us. So, I was surprised to see Appreciation just below Empowerment, which is just below Peace, Joy, Freedom, and Love. I asked my Higher Self about that and the response was this: Appreciation (for me, at least) is like opening a door. Behind that door is Empowerment which then leads to alignment with Source. Source IS Joy, Peace, Freedom, and Love. Your results may vary…
  3. Notwithstanding what I wrote above, try not to get to much into the meaning of the results. Otherwise you might find yourself asking how many angels can dance on the head of a pin. This is just a scale. And its purpose is to help you focus on where you want to be vibrationally. All tools have limitations as they are just a way to where you want to go but they are not the destination.

Creating your own scale

I am writing about this for one simple reason: I believe that we all use these wonderful tools in unique ways. And I hope that I inspire you to take this tool (or any other one you like) and customize it for yourself.

Using your own intuition and muscle testing, you can create a similar scale to use for shifting your vibration. As Abraham reminds us all the time, “Nothing is more important than feeling good.”

I’ve included the source list below so you have a place to begin. Be sure to look and see if there is any word missing from the list that you commonly use in your emotional vocabulary. If you speak English, but think in another language, it might be a good idea to include both words in your list. It might be surprising to see that the translation of one word tests at a different vibration than the other.

Use any scale you want to use. I like the zero to 1000 scale for a variety of reasons, but yours could be 1 to 10.

Or you could just test to find out what order each word goes in. In that case, you might have a list of 46 words, so your scale would be 1 to 46.

A final reminder: the Infinite Intelligence of the Universe lives within you, so you have access to all the wisdom needed to breathe life into anything and create a wonderful tool that liberates and empowers you (and plain feels good) in just the perfect way.

Using the Hawkins Scale and EFT to intentionally raise vibration

Sometimes I have a hard time figuring out where I am on the Emotional Guidance Scale.

During those times, I know I feel bad and that my vibration is contracting away from Source, but sometimes that very fact makes it seem almost impossible to see where I am.

A few months ago, I discovered a combination of tools that work quite well for me, particularly when I’m feeling all muddy about how I’m feeling (so to speak).

I use three tools for this process

  1. Muscle testing (with my fingers)
  2. The Hawkins Map of Consciousness (the Hawkins scale)
  3. Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT)

First, using a script of sorts, I will show you what I do. Then, after a disclaimer or two, I’ll explain each step in more detail. Finally, there is a list of resources at the bottom of this post that you might find helpful.

An example

  • I’m connected to my Higher Self.
I’m connected to my unconscious mind.
My Higher Self is connected to my unconscious mind.
  • Clear to test.
    Clear to test.
    Clear to test.
  • On the Hawkins scale of zero to 1000, where 1000 is enlightenment and 600 is peace, I am currently vibrating at 150.
  • Even though I am at 150 on the Hawkins scale, I deeply and completely love, accept, and forgive myself.
  • Even though I’m only at 150…
    It’s ok that I’m moving up slowly…
I’m ready to move up the scale a bit more…
Even though I’m only at 150, it would be nice to be at 200…

Don’t worry if you don’t immediately understand what each step above is doing. Keep reading for an explanation of each one.

But first…

A few disclaimers

Not everyone will like this approach and that’s perfectly fine. I’ve actually held off writing about this for a couple of reasons.

First, this may seem like a way of “managing” your vibration, which may not appeal to some.

Second, I can’t find a really good explanation of muscle testing. If you know of one, please leave any pertinent links in the comments… please!

It only took 45 minutes for someone to send me a link to a very comprehensive overview of muscle testing: http://www.goodhealthinfo.net/herbalists/muscle_testing.htm (Thanks to Meredith! @expectwonderful on Twitter).

So Still, this explanation assumes you know how to muscle test yourself. Oh, and it also assumes you know how to use EFT.

If I find a good explanation of muscle testing, I’ll update this post with that information.

In the meantime, let’s forge ahead with an explanation of the process.

Muscle testing

As mentioned above, I’m assuming you know how to muscle test yourself. But I’ve written up a brief explanation of how it works (for me, at least).

How muscle testing works for me

In muscle testing, I find it only works if I make a statement and then test for positive or negative (strong or weak).

I test by holding the thumb and forefinger of my non-dominant hand (left, in my case) in a circle.

While attempting to hold these two fingers together, I try to pull them apart with the forefinger of my dominant hand.

If my non-dominant hand fingers stay together, then the answer is positive. If they split, the answer is negative.

Preparing to test

Next, I’ll describe how I prepare to test. Everyone who uses muscle testing has their way of doing it. My description is just for illustration.

In the processes below, each sentence in italics is a test I use for the issue mentioned.

In preparing to test, I want to make sure I am focused on the process and that I connect with my Higher Self and unconscious mind. This may seem redundant or unnecessary, but it works best this way for me.

I also test that I am clear to test. I learned to do this from a person who is very skilled at muscle testing.

  • Make sure I’m connected.
I’m connected to my Higher Self.
I’m connected to my unconscious mind.
My Higher Self is connected to my unconscious mind.
  • Make sure I’m clear to test.
    Clear to test.
    Clear to test.
    Clear to test.

Next, it’s time to check where I am on the Hawkins scale. In other words, where is my vibration at?

The Hawkins Scale

David Hawkins, author of Power v. Force, has described a Map of Consciousness that I like to call the Hawkins scale. It follows the same basic concept as the Abraham EGS: as consciousness (vibration) expands, it is more in alignment with Source energy. If you go up the scale, you are aligning your vibration with Source.

Using muscle testing on himself, Hawkins has given values to specific levels of consciousness and those are listed below. Note that the Hawkins scale doesn’t exactly correspond to the Abraham EGS.

The Scale

Level Log
Enlightenment 700-1000
Peace 600
Joy 540
Love 500
Reason 400
Acceptance 350
Willingness 310
Neutrality 250
Courage 200
Pride 175
Anger 150
Desire 125
Fear 100
Grief 75
Apathy 50
Guilt 30

Testing yourself to a scale of numbers

So, there’s a bit of a trick to testing scales of numbers. The basic method is to start at the bottom (or where you think you are) and then keep moving up as long as you test positive. Once you test negative, you’ve gone over.

For example, to check myself on this scale, I test myself starting at 100.

If that number is positive, I try 125.

If that number is negative, I stop as this means I’m at 100 or between 100 and 125.

But, if 125 is positive, then I test 150. And I keep going until I test negative on a number.

However, if I start at 100 and I test negative, that means I need to go down the scale.

So, the next thing I would test is 75. If that tests positive, I stop. If it tests negative, I would go down to 50 and test that. And so on.

I don’t always try to get the specific number. I usually just want to know where I am on this chart (100, 125, 150, etc.). But you can test to as fine a number as you want (like 107, 145, 309, etc.).

When testing, I always introduce the concept to my Higher Self and unconscious mind by announcing out loud what I am doing:

On the Hawkins scale of zero to 1000, where 1000 is enlightenment and 600 is peace, I am currently vibrating at…

After the first test, I cut the test language down a bit:

On the Hawkins scale of zero to 1000, I am currently vibrating at…

Once I know where I am on the scale, I start using EFT to move up.

Using other scales

By the way, you could also use the Abraham EGS in a similar way.

You could also use your own scale. For instance you could test yourself from 1 to 10, where 1 is a heavily contracted vibration and 10 is a highly expansive vibration.

Go with what feels right to you. I’ve used the EGS and my own scale. There’s just something about the Hawkins scale that appeals to me.

EFT

So, here is where the shift happens. I know where I’m at on the scale. And I know I want to move up. So, I use EFT to accomplish that.

The setup statement

Use the following setup statement in whatever form works for you (the part in bold is key, the rest can be adapted to your own way of doing setup statements):

Even though I am at 100 on the Hawkins scale, I deeply and completely love, accept, and forgive myself.

The sequence

Go through the sequence. I like to say things like this as I’m tapping:

  • Even though I’m only at 150
  • It’s ok that I’m moving up slowly.
  • I’m ready to move up the scale a bit more.
  • Even though I’m only at 150, it would be nice to be at 200.

As with all things, being easy with it is the best approach.

After you complete one sequence, test yourself again on the Hawkins scale as described above.

Moving up the scale (usually)

You most likely will have moved up a bit, at least. Sometimes, I actually move down as “stuff” comes up and clears. Regardless, keep going until you feel good and expansive.

If you are going to continue, do the setup statement again:

Even though I am at 150 on the Hawkins scale, I still deeply and completely love, accept, and forgive myself.

And go through the sequence again.

Repeat as much as you want.

One last thing

This post isn’t a comprehensive explanation of these three useful tools. It’s an explanation of how I use them. Here are a few resources that you might find helpful:

Consciousness Project — a resource for students of David Hawkins’ work.

Emotional Freedom Technique — Gary Craig’s website for all things EFT.

EFT Manual — direct link to where you can download the EFT manual for free.

Dear Universe

Hi there!

How are you?

I hope you are having a great day… or century… or millennium… Or whatever… I guess it really is all good with you every day since you don’t really deal with the whole time thing.

Anyway, I just thought I would drop you a note. As a matter of fact, my Higher Self kinda suggested I do it. You might know him. He’s tall, dark, and really handsome. He goes by Frank, but will also respond to other things like, “Oh shit!” and “How the hell did this happen?” He’s really a great guy but I guess you already knew that.

Anywho… see the reason I’m writing is cause I have something I want to exchange. No, it’s not any of the Christmas presents I received cause they were all great.

I don’t know how to say this nicely, so I’ll just say it like this: I, um, want to turn in some of my body weight. Now, it’s not that it hasn’t been good to me. I’m not trying to make this weight wrong. It really did a great job of protecting me: from other people, from riding rollercoasters, and from too much intimacy. It helped ground me when I was feeling lost. I always knew I could add some more weight if I wanted to.

So, I guess this is kinda awkward. You see, this body weight has kept me stuck to the earth. And that’s been really cool. But, I, uh, would really like to fly a bit. I’d like to climb up the side of a mountain. I’d like to go dancing all night. There’s a whole lot of things I’d like to do.

I guess I’m wondering if I could trade in this body weight for some muscle mass. Maybe some well-defined muscles. While we’re at it, I’d also like to give up these feelings of self-consciousness. I mean, I could really get into being the hottest guy in the room. Maybe. One step at a time, I guess.

My Higher Self has been real great about all of this. He keeps reminding me that I’m already perfect the way I am. And that my body is totally cool, no matter how much weight I add to it (or remove from it). He’s also been reminding me that my body will totally take care of itself if I will let it.

So, I’m hoping you can help me out with this.

Oh wait… my Higher Self is poking me. He says to tell you this:

Here is all my extra body weight. I’m letting it go. Bring me the perfect muscle mass in exchange. And do it all so that it’s easy, effortless, and graceful for me.

OK, that feels really good. Thanks!

Love always,
Frank

Here’s the reply I got instantly:

YES!

A number of wonderful things happened in 2008

A gratitude list. In no particular order.

  • Move back to Austin

Dallas was awesome. I met so many wonderful new people. And experienced perfect contrast. It was a bit like going to the wilderness so I could find myself. That may sound like I’m putting Dallas down. I’m not — Dallas was the “wilderness” that is unfamiliar and is outside the known.

Coming back to Austin was coming back home. Home, not only where my birth family and my chosen family lives, but also where all the old pieces of self that wanted attention, wanted healing, wanted to evolve… Where all these old aspects were waiting, patiently, for me to be done with that adventure and finally here them, once and for all.

  • Finding a MasterMind group

The power of a MasterMind group is a big topic right now in the personal development blogosphere. I’m not piling on here. I just want to say that now I understand why so many have told me for years that being a member of a structured and dedicated MasterMind group is so powerful. It really is.

I am so in love with this group and I am deeply appreciative of each one of the members. Each one of us is passionate about creating and living a life of abundance, love, and joy. And so we are!

  • Sharing a home with my mom

When I moved back to Austin, my mom opened her home to me. What a powerful gift! I learned so much from her. We have lived together as adults in the past, but this was fully conscious, fully engaged. And it was a real gift to be able to share what I have been discovering this year with her.

  • Reconnecting with old friends

Moving back to Austin was just the beginning of reconnecting with old friends. There were all the people that I had been missing for a year. And then, all of sudden, Facebook appeared in my life.

Suddenly, there are friends from high school, both in Lubbock and La Serena… old boyfriends… new friends… But Facebook is amazing — every time I log on it seems as though I get a chance to reconnect with someone else.

The feeling that all of this evokes is a kind of delicious completion without any endings… Very nice!

  • Finally getting it about creating money

I’ve written about this here and elsewhere.

Here is the bottom line: When I ask for I want, it comes. Oddly enough, this means that I can’t just wish for it. I can’t just hope it will happen.

Money comes to me once I find the image of what it will look like when the manifestation has occurred and then find the feeling of receiving it. Bringing those two together is the real secret. How it happens is none of my business.

My job is to decide what I want, ask for it, let it go, and act on the inspiration that ALWAYS comes. The more I let go — the more I reach for the better feeling thoughts persistently — the quicker that I can get ok with it not coming — the quicker it comes. I love the fact that I now understand this.

  • Wonderful new relationships

This year has been full of new relationships. I found a new love in my life this year in the most unexpected way. And loved myself (and him) enough to know when it was time to let go and say goodbye.

I am constantly amazed at the love and joy that I get to share with new friends, some of whom are also clients. I almost don’t have words for this, but I always work with and play with the most amazing human beings. The more I get to know them, the more in awe I find myself. So much love, so much creativity, so much power, and so very much joy…

These are not perfected human beings. These are human beings who are learning to remember who they are and how perfect they are in so many, many ways.

  • Admitting the truth that I am a channel

Saying this out loud, writing about it, and living from this truth has felt like a second coming out of the closet. There are still people that I feel I want to sit down with and explain it to them, like I did when I came out as gay when I was 18. I wonder what they will think. And, as before, I eventually realize that what they think is really none of my business.

I am so grateful that I can stop pretending to be or do something different. What this means is still not completely clear to me. Like everything else, it is an unfolding story as I get clearer and clearer about what I want to experience.

Of course, the best part of being a channel is that I get to introduce the Communion of Light to so many people. It’s such an honor to be there when that happens. The Communion is unfailing in their gift of clarity — they see us as we already are. And they are insistent on treating us as we are: their equals — even when we believe that we are something less than magnificent.

They are gentle, yet prodding. They are direct, but they have a very dry wit that comes out at the most unexpected moments. They see us for who we really are and have an infinite patience while we sort all of that out. Every time I get to blend my energy with theirs, my gratitude is so deep.

I specifically want to thank the ones who are sharing this three-dimensional reality with me who have helped me get ok with being a channel: Paul, Slade, Dennis, Lori, Kevin, my mom, Doug, David T., Nick, Sandi, Christine, Jason, Carmen, and Jen. All of you have helped me ground this magnificent and wild ride and I really can’t thank you enough for that.

Wow — what a wonderful year this has been!

I was led to create this list after reading Slade Roberson’s latest post at Shift Your Spirits. He issued a challenge of sorts to come up with a gratitude list for 2008.

You could do the same thing. Take a pen and paper. Or make a list here in the comments. Or post one on your own blog (be sure to leave a comment with a link so we can all read about your wonderful year).

The great thing about sharing your list is that you are bringing focus to all the good that came forth in your life as well as offering new possibilities for others to think about.

Personally, I can’t wait to read all about your year. So share away!!

As you do so, by the way, you are quietly planting seeds for the new year. Not a to-do list. But the thoughts and feelings that, when they combine, become the fuel for the next experiences that are coming into your life.

What do you want to have happen in the next year? What new adventures are you calling forth? How much joy? How much abundance? How much love?

Dream big. Feel what it feels like. See yourself having it. Tell the new story. Draw a picture. Film a movie of it in your mind. Combine your image, your concept, with the feeling of what it will feel like in the moment after the manifestation.

Then… let it all go. Take a deep breath and give it over to God, Goddess, the Universe, Infinite Intelligence, the Christ within you — whatever form your higher power takes. If you want, let it go with a ritual — burning bowl, pressing the delete key, tossing sand into the ocean, whatever works for you.

Now is the time for trust.

If you live in the northern hemisphere, the earth is still far away from the sun. The days are short and the nights are long. And we have the promise of a brighter, sunnier, warmer day to come. It is coming. You can trust. Right now.

If you live in the southern hemisphere, you know all about the brightness of new beginnings. You see all the beauty of creation everywhere you look. The sun is warm and high in the sky. The days are long and summer is in high gear. You know that anything is possible. Your dreams are coming true. Right now.

The great thing about the Law of Attraction is that you only have to offer a bit of a vibration in the direction you want to go and then the Universe begins to respond. Quickly. So, offer your vibration of trust. Begin to tell the new story about how your life is more and more wonderful, how you are trusting in your own creative power, and the inevitability of the Universe bringing you what you desire. This is a new year, after all. Enjoy it immensely!!

The evolving economics of the future

This morning I asked the Communion of Light to share their insight with us about the evolving economics of the future. I wanted to know more about where this financial transition we are in is leading to.

We are not overly concerned about every small thing that happens in the scheme of things. And we would recommend that you not be either.

As you may be observing from your own perspective, there is a shift occurring in the economic reality of your experience. For some, this may impact you directly. For others, this may be an event that seems to be happening far away or only to other people.

Whatever your perspective may be, we would invite you to see this upheaval and transformation as an excellent opportunity to become more and more clear about the truth of your financial reality: the vibration you offer to the Universe is the key to your financial abundance and prosperity. Nothing else affects your experience other than those things that you bring into your experience through your vibration.

Most people, upon reading this for the first or the hundredth time, will usually react a bit by saying to themselves, “if that is true, then why am I experiencing this experience that I do not like?” You may feel a bit of indignation or overwhelm as we write these words.

It is not our intention to focus upon what you do not like. We write these words as an offering of freedom.

Yes, you may have created an experience in the past or in the now that is not pleasing to you. And you may feel that others are to blame. All of that is a part of the experience you are creating. If you feel that others are to blame, you will continue to receive evidence of this belief, through the mechanics of the Law of Attraction. As your vibration is offered, so do you receive. This is always happening.

So, we are inviting you to step outside of your usual train of thought for a moment. If you could see yourself as we see you, all of what you are creating would instantly shift.

You are a vibrant and dynamic being. You are a master manifestor. You are always reaching for more and more of what is in alignment with the very essence and truth of your being: love, peace, joy, freedom, abundance… This has always been true and it will always be true.

When you are having experiences that do not please you, then you know something is off. The Universe is wonderfully consistent. And your relationship with your Higher Self is always working.

Right now, your Higher Self is guiding you, very gently, away from what does not please you (that is why it does not feel good to you) and towards what does please you and what is in alignment with the truth of who you are right now.

We invite you to embrace this moment, wherever you may be and whatever experience you may be having. Embrace this moment as an opportunity to see the truth of who you are. Ask your Higher Self to speak to you and listen for the sweetness and compassion that immediately follows your request. For you are imminently perfect in this moment. Everything is conspiring to help you find your way back to the truth of who you are, even those people and experiences that you do not like. Particularly them.

So, what are the evolving economics of the future? They might be the simple awareness that this vast Universe is yours to enjoy and explore and share and live and love in. They might be the wonderful vision of ample abundance and prosperity bursting into your experience moment after moment.

But most of all, the evolving economics of the future are that you are the one creating your experience. No amount of statistics or theory can predict who you will become as you remember who you are. And we invite you to do so. For as you remember who you are, as you become your Higher Self, as you step into your personal power and allow it to flow through you, you are inviting thousands and millions of others to do the same. Whether they do or not, you cannot control or predict. But you have made the invitation, just as we are doing today, and it will always be silently and powerfully calling forth the very best that exists in each.

We are always quite honored and pleased to connect with you. And, until at such time that we are able to do so again, we bid you a fond farewell.

Nine things that happen when you feel better

Most mornings, I have a call with my dear friend Dennis Tardan. Usually during the call he has a nice chat with the Communion of Light. He brings his own questions to them and relays mine as well.

In an amazing conversation with the Communion of Light this morning, they gave us a list of nine things that happen when you feel better.

They reminded us that our feelings — our vibration — determines everything. All that we are experiencing is a result of what we feel and think.

When Dennis pressed them for more practical information they asked him to write down this list:

  1. Creativity expands, ideas flow to me, actionable ideas become apparent.
  2. My body relaxes. Chemical reactions occur in my body in response to my vibration expanding.
  3. Who I am in the world changes. How others see me changes. I become more attractive. Those who can see, see more light shining through me. My aura expands.
  4. It is easier to remember who I am. I am a spiritual being, a vibrational being, having a physical experience. When I feel better, it is easier to remember this.
  5. My speech flows better. Ideas come forth with greater clarity.
  6. I see the interconnectedness of all things with greater understanding.
  7. I realize that there is nothing that I cannot be, do or have.
  8. I realize that my decision to feel better is impacting my experience in the physical plane and I realize that the abundance in my life, whatever shape it may take, flows from that decision.
  9. When I feel better, when I feel good, I realize why I forgot how important it is to feel good.

I could write volumes about this, but I think it speaks for itself.

Economic times for deliberate creators

Yesterday, I had an interesting conversation with a friend of mine who lives abroad. Like, so many companies here, his firm was taking a harder line on their operating capital. They don’t want their money stuck in a frozen account or lost because it’s not insured or backed by their national government.

As we were talking, he was saying how scared he was about the possibility of a global depression. He mentioned how, in the Great Depression, many people starved to death, even in the USA.

We talked a bit more in this vein. I was inspired to say to him that many of the things that initially went wrong in the Great Depression have now been fixed, at least in the countries that have a clear institutional history of the event. Places like the US, the UK, and most of Europe, have processes in place that allow them to stop a run on banks or a market panic. This is as a result of what was learned about managing market economies in the 1930s.

Regardless of where you are, this is an excellent time to start paying attention to the intention you are offering around your money, your job, and your sense of economic security.

Here are some questions to ask yourself:

  • Am I worried about the economy?
  • Am I worried about my money?
  • Do I think that my ability to make a living is tied to market conditions?
  • Am I worried about being laid off from my job?
  • Do I think that what happens on Wall Street or in the City affects my personal prosperity?

If you answered yes to any of the above questions, I would like to invite you to start turning those beliefs around deliberately.

For the best way to do that, I asked the Communion of Light, who have a broader non-physical perspective, to offer their recommendations. Here is what they had to say:

It is simple enough to say to yourself, “I do not believe this bad news.”

But that is not always enough for you to break free of the beliefs that you have been nurturing for, perhaps, most of your life.

We would recommend that you begin, right now, to find things in your immediate environment that you appreciate. Bringing the power of appreciation to any issue will always help you line up with the experience you desire.

So, as you focus on how much and how deeply you appreciate that which surrounds you (in other words, as you give your attention to the fact that “what is” is ok with you), then it is somewhat easier to move your attention slightly further away.

You might want to bring your attention to the appreciation you have for the money that is in your pocket.

And then bring your attention to the appreciation you have for the money that is in your bank account.

And then bring your attention a bit further out — appreciating the fact that you are receiving money through some specific channel: a job, clients, a pension (one or more, as your particular case may be).

Then you could gently bring your attention even a bit further out into the world — appreciating the fact that you are part of a larger economy. That the role you play in this economy is not based on how much you earn or how much you spend. Your role is based on your intention.

As you decide that you want to see evidence of a world that is getting better and better, and that you want to experience greater and greater abundance for yourself, then you will begin to notice (and sooner, rather than later) how many experiences and thoughts and feelings of abundance that you are already having.

As you continue to appreciate and notice what you are wanting, it is your focus on these things that draws them to you. For you are offering a clear vibration to the universe. And the universe is responding to you via the mechanics of the Law of Attraction.

The more you appreciate, the more you become aware of your own prosperity and abundance. And the more you appreciate, the more you experience greater prosperity and abundance. You begin to see it everywhere. Your attention is drawn more and more in the direction that you have set with your intention.

And, so, as you are practicing this, notice that you may have thoughts and feelings and experiences that seem to contradict your desire for greater abundance.

These are only the remnants of old vibrations that you once offered. Pay no attention to them. See them for what they are: phantoms of the past.

For today you are focused on who you are and who you are becoming: a magnificent, powerful, deliberate creator!

My personal memorial

Seven years ago today, I was driving along Route 110 in Virginia, late for a meeting in DC. As I was chatting on the phone with my boss back at the office, I looked to my right and saw a fireball erupting on the far side of the Pentagon. They don’t look anything like what you see in the movies or on TV. Instantly I knew that life would never be the same again.

Here we are.

It has been seven years since everything in the US stopped for several days.

It has been seven years since people across the globe said, “We are all Americans today.”

Here are some things that I am noticing about my country after seven years…

– I am noticing that elements of our government use torture. They always did. Now, the word is out.

– I am noticing that some elected officials only pay lip service to the Constitution. They always did. Now, the word is out.

– I am noticing that at least one political party will use any chance it can get to appropriate national symbols for political gain. They always did. Now, the word is out.

The word is out about the shadow country. The one that was kept in the dark because, as the amazing Jack Nicholson once said, “You can’t handle the truth.”

Now that we see the shadow, what do we do next?

Do we fight? Many of us have been fighting. Did it bring relief?

Do we drop out? Many of us have dropped out. Did it bring relief?

As the old saying goes, “What you resist, persists.” Fighting and ignoring are just a way to resist what is. There is a shadow country, whether we fight it or ignore it. There always has been. Now, the word is out.

Or is there another way? Many of us have found comfort and vision and renewed commitment to life in the vibrant unseen world that surrounds everything.

Is it possible that, by seeing the shadow country — the hidden United States (in other words, “us”) — we have an opportunity to choose once again? To choose more love, more peace, more harmony?

We can make this powerful choice in the place where we have the most influence — ourselves. Not islands alone in the stream, but interdependent beings living with and among one another.

It is no stretch to say to this group that how we live our lives has a greater influence on people than any word we may speak or write. For if we speak of one thing, but live another, then our words mean nothing in the end.

***

Starhawk once wrote that it was a mistake not to give the dead a voice in politics. Being dead, they don’t quite have the same perspective on things that we, the living, have in our short view of the present and the future.

If you are having a memorial today for those who died on September 11th, whether it is public or private, you might want to ask the dead their opinion. They will probably tell you that their lives were never in vain and that they want no revenge for anything. For, from their non-physical vantage point, they see the perfection that exists already in each of our lives. And, patiently, they wait for us to realize it on our own.

When we do, the shadow disappears, for we are now living in the light.

With much love and affection for you all,
Frank Butterfield

Day 22 of the Emotional Guidance Scale Challenge: Joy / Knowledge / Empowerment / Freedom / Love / Appreciation

Joy / Knowledge / Empowerment / Freedom / Love / Appreciation

Well, we made it!!

Today is our final day of the EGS Challenge!!

(Be sure to listen to this morning’s call)

Of course, this is really just the beginning. If you’ve been participating in the challenge or are just reading along, hopefully you have a much better understanding of how the Emotional Guidance Scale works and are much more familiar with your personal interpretation of each of the set points.

Today is a good day (like every day) to be present to the high vibration of Joy, Freedom, Love, Empowerment, and particularly Appreciation. And, in doing so, today is also a good day to be telling your new story. Not who you were, or even who you are, but how who you are becoming.

Abraham is constantly reminding us that the Universe is constantly expanding and evolving and so are we. Once we know where we are (which we have done through this EGS Challenge), then we can consciously and deliberately move in the direction of who we want to become.

What is your new story?

Day 21 of the Emotional Guidance Scale Challenge: Passion

Passion

This is not a word that I’ve been able to relate to very well. And I’m not the only one.

We discussed this conundrum on both calls today. Be sure to listen to each as the callers speak very eloquently about the possible meanings of Passion.

Tomorrow is our last day of the EGS Challenge… I will be pulling together an archive of all the posts and comments and recordings. And I am soliciting your thoughts about the whole experience: how it has worked and how it hasn’t. I’ll be writing about a few of my own “lessons learned” as well over the next couple of days.

Meanwhile, on to day 22: Joy / Knowledge / Empowerment / Freedom / Love / Appreciation
